Hi Nicolas

Thank you for your questions, which I enjoy getting.

  1. You mention that the body constitute the present moment, but what about the head so in other words the mind ? since the body without the mind is like any other body and the mind is what makes us different from other human beings.

There is a difference between the mind and the head; the mind is in fact the totality of the universe in its existence expression. (Existence means to stand out from – ie to stand out from the Formless, the Source – God?) So the entire physical universe both visible and invisible is Mind-stuff. Our individualized awareness is a subset of that, and is currently filtered through our physical and etheric soul/brain. The mind is about time, things/objects – separation, preference and judgement. (“The world of 10 000 things” – Lao Tsu).

We are, however, Human Beings. The ‘Human’ sees only the individualized part; only that which is objectified in time and space; it sees only that which is separate, and is in various states of unconsciousness.  The ‘Being’ is our true essence which I call Spirit.  Spirit (Being/Presence/Love) is undifferentiated, and not localized in either time nor space. ‘Human/Time/Mind’ is in a matrix of past and future projections, while Being is not – it resides in eternal Presence.  We are Spirit, having a Human experience for a brief moment in time.  We are Spirit, having an experience of forgetfulness of our true nature for a brief passing moment of no real consequence.

Fear, Guilt & Desire

We hid our awareness in an illusion matrix of Time/Mind, and then totally forgot that we had done this.  We now see ourselves and others as separate time/mind objects, with individual separate existence. This brings about fear (false evidence appearing real) – the fear of being separate and vulnerable – always at risk of annihilation, and guilt – the guilt of separation from the Divine, and the desire to reunite – to return Home.

The analogy I use is that of the ocean, a wave and a drop of water. The ocean is always complete and whole.  An energy ripple within the ocean manifests as a wave.  A wave while appearing separate and distinct, is never spate from the ocean; indeed it is the ocean waving.  It is the ocean playing with form. We are individual drops of water in the wave. Playing with existence and playing with the exciting perception of separation, while in truth always being the ocean.

When I talk about using the body to awaken our awareness from mind the intention is to take our awareness from the mind of past and future projections and anchor it into the present moment.  While the thoughts we have passing through our brain are always, each and every one, a projection away from the present moment, by becoming fully aware of our body, by fully inhabiting the body with our awareness, we regain conscious presence. We anchor our awareness back in reality. The body is always here and now, while it is our mind which is there and then, if you get my meaning.

Yes, the mind is what makes us different from other humans, but the Heart yearns now to be reunited once again with the Undifferentiated, which is love.

  1. 2- A second question is that:  is it not the mind with its capacity of projecting our wishes and ideas in the future and planning ahead that differentiate us from other less intelligent animals.

Yes, the mind has this wonderful creative capacity. You are right, it does indeed elevate us above animals and other creatures. The problem is not mind, it is that we have forgotten we have a mind, we now believe that we are mind. We no longer have a mind, the mind has us!  While the mind makes a wonderful servant, it make a tyrannical master.  A person run by the mind is generally mad. On the other hand a person anchored in presence, who uses his/her mind when required, but lives in the Now, is sane.

Also does visualization, like the law of attraction, is something that we should not do??

Visualization is a tool of consciousness to use the power of the mind to create.  However, most people are run by their minds.  And the mind knows nothing about true creativity.  It only knows past patterns and experiences.  The mind uses visualization everyday – unconsciously, and therefore remain stuck in repeating past pattern of behavior and recreating past experiences in the future.  The Law of Attraction is the Law of the manifested Universe of ‘10 000 things’, which is a playground of mind, and needs to be worked with consciously rather than letting the mind dictate its direction.

The work I do in retreats and workshops focuses around answering three fundamental questions:

Who are you?

What do you really, really, really want?

What is your real life’s purpose?

Unless one has answers to these, how does one know where to go?  How does one set meaningful goals and use the power of visualization to achieve them?

As long as a person remains unconscious of Being, then they remain stuck in the Matrix of the Mind, and are doomed to experience pain and suffering. But suffering has its purpose – suffering leads ultimately to surrender, and surrender is the doorway into Being.

I hope you find this useful in your journey homeward.

Best wishes

John

Subject: general question

Mr. Homewood;
I am so lucky that I have seen your videos. So powerful and helpful and direct to the point. I have been listening to them so many times.
I have sent your links to few of my friends who all of them thanked me for receiving such powerful and very clear messages.

I do hope that someday I will be able to come to South Africa and attend your lectures ( not so easy since I am established in Lebanon, but still will have to do it)

Please I would appreciate so much if you could enlighten me regarding these two questions that I have and that are really bothering me.

  1. You mention that the body constitute the present moment, but what about the head so in other words the mind ? since the body without the mind is like any other body and the mind is what makes us different from other human beings.
  2. 2- A second question is that:  is it not the mind with its capacity of projecting our wishes and ideas in the future and planning ahead that differentiate us from other less intelligent animals.

Also does visualization, like the law of attraction, is something that we should not do??

Thank you so much for your insight and hopefully we will meet up soon.

Regards
