Do you feel a transformation taking place? Do you feel stuck between worlds? If so, you may find what we shared in Sunday’s Satsang of interest. (Watch the You Tube recording now for free)

While the old world has been underlaid by a frequency of fear and separation, a new world based on love and peace lies on the horizon.  But we have to make a commitment as to which world we wish to support.  While many people are still drawn to conflict and war, derived from fear as well as the perception of separation, many more people are now seeking reconciliation and  peace – real heart centred peace.  As more people make this commitment with their focus, thoughts and emotions, so this new world will manifest for them into reality.

THE WORLD OF FORM AND ACHIEVEMENT
For far too long, we have lived in a world which has focused almost exclusively on ‘form’ and ‘doing’. This old world has valued the acquisition and accumulation of ‘things’ and ‘stuff’, ‘achievements’ and experiences, over the real human values of love, compassion, kindness and connection.

Because of the emptiness in our hearts we have attempted to find fulfilment and meaning by filling our lives with more and more things and achievements.  It can be noted that the countries with the most ‘stuff’ also need the most anti-depressants.  It seems that we have filled our time with more and more doing and with more and more activities, somehow hoping to find satisfaction, fulfilment and salvation in the concept of ‘more’.

THE NEED FOR MORE TIME
Many complain about how little time we have these days, blaming the world ‘out there’, and then attempting to do even more, not realizing that it is our very own mind that is the problem.  It is the mind that is the cause of our stress and dissatisfaction. We have come to believe that we are human doings, forgetting completely that we are human Beings.

MUSIC
Music is one modality for bringing us back to sanity.  Music can be the salve for the soul. However, much of the music today mirrors the madness of our lives – filled with too much frenetic and heavy content and not enough space, thus adding to the vibration and addiction of stress.  Most electronic music demands a continuum of sound, without space, filling every moment with heavy content.

As human doings, under pressure from the modern world plagued by fear and scarcity, so many rush to squeeze more and more things into the units called days.  Electricity and the internet have lengthened the days to where we can now work, (if it weren’t for the “inconvenience” of sleep!), for 24 hours a day – and for many, this still isn’t enough!

VALUING EMPTINESS
Paradoxically, it may be in the emptiness, the nothingness, the space, that we are able to find true fulfilment and satisfaction.

Consider this: a cup, a bowl, a room, a human life, finds it’s value in emptiness.  A life which is too cluttered, to full, reflects a mind that does not recognise the value of emptiness.

The Buddha, 2500 years ago, spoke of śūnya, or emptiness, spaciousness.  According to eastern philosophy, this is the true nature of who and what we are.  Recognising this true nature of ‘self’ is deemed enlightenment, and in living from this inner stillness real peace and fulfilment is found.  However, should we only value ourselves in our doingness, and in our having-ness, then peace will continue to elude us.

TRANSCENDING TIME
The magical thing is, as we introduce more quietness, more space, into our awareness, we stretch time, thereby achieving more with little to no stress!  The thing is, the more presence we bring into our awareness, the more we are able to stretch time.

THINK ON THIS
Almost every modern piano has 88 keys.  For the content-driven mind to be satisfied, and by maximising output, surly all 52 white keys, as well as all 36 black keys would have to be activated at the same time? And how insane would this be?  In maximising the ‘doing’ potential of the piano, and ignoring all space, we would loose the subtle octaves and harmonics of beautiful music.

That which we would be creating by maximising the piano’s ‘doing’ potential would create nothing but discordant noise. Leaving out some to most of the  keys on the piano while playing, allowing spaces in the ‘doing’, actually creates the canvas for beauty in music.

And so it is in our lives; where we honour space and stillness, we open our awareness to perceive beauty.

SPACE CREATES DEPTH WHICH ALLOWS FOR HEALING
It is the space between the notes that the depth and beauty of music is revealed.  It is in valuing  silence and stillness, consciously inviting them into our awareness moment to moment, that shifts our lives from fear to love, from trauma to peace.

As we nurture and grow the peaceful quality of our inner-space, so it has the capacity to transform the cacophony of madness and stress in the world, into the harmonious music necessary for human evolution. The silent pauses between actions will enrich and deepen our everyday life experience and bring healing.

WHAT TO DO?
So I suggest we take time to rediscover and cherish the space of now, the sacred silence that lies at the core of creation.  This stillness arises from surrender, not achievement.

Right now, take a moment to pause, and listen to the silence between your thoughts; let a spacious awareness softly breathe life back into your awareness, as you ready yourself for the birth of the new world.

For those wishing to awaken or deepen their connection with inner-space, we have a some retreats coming up in South Africa which will help you do just that.
